DeKALB – Resource Bank has donated $5,000 to the Hinckley-Big Rock FFA in support of its goal of constructing a new agricultural building.
The Hinckley-Big Rock FFA and their alumni are seeking to raise funds to purchase and erect a 50-by-80-foot wood frame agriculture building to serve as a meeting space for the FFA and to store the items needed for various FFA projects. The building also will be used as an educational space and workshop for the activities with which the students are involved.
In addition, the chapter has an extremely active greenhouse and orchard, and they hope to use the new building to provide space for the sale of bedding plants, poinsettias, fresh fruits, and various other products grown by the students. The FFA Alumni Association hopes to provide the building at no cost to the district or students and is relying on community donations to complete the project.
“The Hinckley-Big Rock School District’s FFA has an active and strong history, and we are proud to share in helping these future farmers get started,” Joe Bothe, Resource Bank commercial adviser, said in a news release. “As the last local community bank in DeKalb County, Resource Bank is committed to agriculture and the farmers of today and tomorrow who keep our county running.”
