DeKALB – It's almost time to slip on your dancing shoes and head to the Duke Ellington Ballroom for the 14th annual "Let's Dance" Big Band Weekend.
The recreational ballroom fest, set for July 19 through 21, is waltzing into its 14th year in the ballroom, 340 Carroll Ave. in DeKalb, according to a news release from Just Make It Happen Inc. The friendly dance weekend is not a competition, but gives the opportunity for ballroom dancers and others to show off their dance moves with the swing, foxtrot, Latin, and Waltz ballroom dance instruction also available.
A variety of dance packages are available for dancers of all skill levels, and registration is required, with forms found at www.justmakeithappen-dekalb.com.
Cabaret and family time dance sessions vary in pricing, but DeKalb residents can get a $10 discount per person for once dance thanks to a "Dancing for Health" scholarship sponsored by Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital.
Dancers are required to wear leather-soled shoes.
