DeKALB – Residents are invited to submit their comments, questions, and concerns to the city since the 30-day public comment period for the Community Development Block Grant funding began Saturday.
According to a news release from the city, a public hearing will be held June 10 at the regular city council meeting, and residents can also submit written comments beginning Saturday through June 10 to city officials, or by contacting Community Services Coordinator Joanne Rouse at 815-748-2366, or Joanne.Rouse@cityofdekalb.com.
The city will receive $439,100 in block grant funds for the program year of April 1 to March 31, 2020 to be used to increase affordable housing, community, and economic opportunities for low to modern-income residents.
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the city to submit a consolidated plan every five years as well as an annual action plan annually. The plans describe community needs, resources, priorities, and proposed activities to use the funds for, the release shows.
The drafted action plan is subject to public consideration, and can be found at www.cityofdekalb.com/CivicAlerts.
