It’s that time of year. No, not Christmas, not back-to-school, but something like both. It is time to join the Celebration Chorale for its Christmas cantata. Singers are needed.
Those who like to sing should consider joining. There are no auditions, no requirements of any sort, just a desire to sing with a comfortable, caring community.
The Celebration Chorale is a long-standing mission of the First United Methodist Church of DeKalb, with members from all walks of life and all parts of DeKalb County, perhaps beyond.
The preparation for this December’s cantata, “Noel,” begins with a meet-and-greet at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the FUMC dining room at 317 N. Fourth St. in DeKalb, just east of the public library. Future practices will be in the church sanctuary from 8 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesdays. No registration is required: just show up. New members can join up until Nov. 17.
The cantata will offer three performances with instrumental accompaniment: Dec. 6, 8 and 9. Conducted by Christine Monteiro, “Noel” will feature traditional and new Christmas songs. A children’s choir also will perform a few numbers.
