SANDWICH – The Sandwich Public Library will be closed until further notice because of staff exposure to COVID-19, according to library staff.

According to a Thursday news release from the library, library staff will be testing and undergoing a two-week quarantine period to ensure safety and wellness.

“We are so incredibly heartbroken that we must once again close our doors, but the safety of both our staff and our patrons is of the [utmost] importance to us,” library staff wrote.

Book returns will be closed until staff is back in the building, according to the news release. Patrons should keep checked-out library materials to return at a later day. No late fees will occur.

All pickup and outdoor programming is suspended at this time, according to the release. Most online and virtual programs for both youth and adults still will occur.

During closure, library staff can be contacted via email.
