SYCAMORE – The Merchants of Downtown Sycamore will miss seeing the costumed children who usually come downtown for trick-or-treat during Pumpkin Fest. This year, the group is sponsoring a children’s Halloween costume contest.

To register, children age 12 and younger should put on their Halloween costumes and have a picture taken.

Parents need to print the photos, no larger than 4-by-6 inches, and bring them to one of the participating businesses before Oct 15.

Participating businesses include Cassie’s Corn Crib Café/Cassie’s Popcorn, Lizzy’s Pink Boutique, Luxe Salon, Made Just for You, SIS Shop in Style and Sweet Earth Jewelry and Gifts.

Pictures will be identified by numbers and posted in the busineses’ windows.

From Oct. 16 to 31, the public is invited to get a ballot from one of the participating businesses and vote for their favorites in 10 categories: Most Creative, Funniest, Scariest, Prettiest, Ugliest, Most Colorful, Most Elaborate, Best Prince/Princess, Best Superhero and Cutest.

The ballot should be returned to one of the sponsoring businesses. Votes will be tallied and winners announced in early November.
