Dani Brzozowski, the Democratic nominee for Congress in the Illinois 16th District, and incumbent Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, are set for their first debate of the campaign at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
The debate will be hosted by WCMY Radio and will be conducted at WCMY studios in Ottawa. Listeners can tune in on 1430 AM, at 1430wcmy.com, or watch live on WCMY’s Facebook page.
The news comes a little over one month after Brzozowski first publicly challenged Kinzinger to a series of debates.
“I am happy that Congressman Kinzinger has agreed to the first of what I hope will be several debates. I’ve said throughout this campaign that I would be willing to debate the issues with the congressman as soon as he is ready,” Brzozowski said in a news release. “There are so many important issues facing the people of IL-16, and they deserve to hear the stark differences between my policies and Kinzinger’s. We’ll continue to reach out to the congressman’s campaign to set up additional debates, and I hope that he will be willing to come to the table several times before Election Day.”
