The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of sealcoating scams around the community that include people pretending to be workers and charging thousands of dollars more than what a normal sealcoating job should cost.
A news release from the sheriff’s office said the department has received several complaints about the scams and continues to investigate.
Victims of the scams have describes the alleged scammer in a white GMC or Chevy pickup truck with no lettering on the side. The truck also is reported to have a large sealcoating tank in the bed, the release states.
Residents are encouraged to call the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at 815-895-2155, Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or their local law enforcement agency if they’ve been a victim of this scam or have any information.
