Illinois Community Credit Union, along with its members and staff, have raised $1,631.75 for food pantries in and around the DeKalb County area. The goal of the drive was to assist these pantries during the COVID-19 pandemic, which have seen increased volumes due to layoffs and the stay-at-home orders.
“In difficult times, Illinois Community Credit Union is ready to serve our members and community,” Thor Dolan, CEO of Illinois Community Credit Union, said in a news release.
The donations will be split evenly between five area pantries: Faith Methodist Church in the Genoa/Kingston area, Rochelle Christian Pantry in Rochelle, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, Kendall County Food Pantry in the Plano/Yorkville area, and Sycamore United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Sycamore.
Illinois Community Credit Union has always shown a strong support for the communities it serves, and this effort comes on the heels of other measures they have taken, including purchasing staff lunches from smaller businesses and buying meals for area fire departments.
