The Kishwaukee Valley Art League has canceled its April meeting because of the coronavirus pandemic. The art students who were to be recognized at the meeting for their achievements at their individual schools will receive their awards in the mail.
Two students from each of the three schools, Sycamore High School, DeKalb High School and Kishwaukee College, were selected by their art teachers for special recognition by KVAL.
Sycamore students Marina Frazier and Shykala Brinkman were selected by Dawn Cavanaugh; DeKalb students Alyssa Elliott and Ashley Wilson were selected by Tricia Schumacher; and Kish College students Megan Renwick and Kerstin Henke were selected by Miles Halpern.
The six students will receive certificates and monetary awards. The three art departments also will receive monetary awards from KVAL. This annual recognition is part of KVAL’s philanthropy program called, The Art of Giving, and is one of the ways the league gives back to the community.
The Kishwaukee Valley Art League is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area. Hy-Vee and Waste Management are patron members of the organization. Visit www.kval-nfp.org for information.
