Congressional art competition opens

Congressman Adam Kinzinger’s office is accepting submissions from all high school students who live in the 16th Congressional District for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition.

Now in its 39th year, the U.S. House of Representatives offers talented young artists from across the country an opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities.

First-place winners will have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel leading to the Capitol for one full year. In addition, winners will be awarded two tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend the official art show opening and a subsequent reception hosted by the Congressional Institute.

The submission deadline for the Congressional Art Competition is 5 p.m. April 24 in the Ottawa district office, 628 Columbus St., Suite 507.

Artwork entered in the contest may be up to 26 inches by 26 inches and four inches deep – with space allowed for framing. All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution. Drawings, mixed media, paintings, collage, photography, prints and computer-generated art may be used.
