DeKALB -- “Out of an abundance of caution,” Stage Coach Players has canceled its upcoming production of "Big Fish," according to a news release.
The show was scheduled to run from March 26 to April 5.
“We did not reach this decisio nlightly,” Steve Becker, Stage Coach board president, said in the release. “For the past week, we have been discussing various options with the cast and crew, searching for some way to perform this musical.
"Those alternatives included postponing performances for a few weeks in hopes that the COVID-19 outbreak will have improved," he said in the release. "The cast and production team spent countless hours preparing for this show, and their hard work deserved to be seen. Unfortunately, no one knows exactly how long this health crisis will last. We realized cancellation is the most responsible decision we can make to protect our community.”
The SCP Box Office will contact those who already purchased tickets for "Big Fish." Those seats can be moved, at no extra cost, to any other production during the 2020 season. Alternatively, patrons can receive a refund for their "Big Fish" tickets, whether they were purchased individually or as part of a season package.
“We appreciate your patience as we reach out to those people over the next week,” Becker in the release.
