DeKALB – Walsh & Associates CEO Joseph Walsh Jr. was ranked among the Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors 2020.
Rankings are based on quantitative and qualitative factors, such as quality of assets under management, client retention and other client-related data, “best practices” within the adviser’s practice and approach to working with clients and credentials. The Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors 2020 spotlights more than 4,000 top advisers across the country who were chosen from more than 32,000 adviser nominations.
Although Walsh was ranked in his home office state of Florida, he may never have entered the field of finance had it not been for the now-shuttered pizza restaurant, J.P. Hannagan’s, that he owned for 20 years in DeKalb, according to a news release.
He entered the field of finance for the know-how to manage the profits from the restaurant, but he suddenly became the “go-to guy” for friends and family who had personal finance questions. Walsh officially began his financial planning career in 1986.
Walsh & Associates now is a family firm with 12 employees, three of whom are Walsh’s sons: Tom, Michael and Joe III.
In addition to his role as adviser and CEO of Walsh & Associates, Walsh is a volunteer instructor for Money Smart Week, a financial literacy campaign created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His classes cover many of the same topics discussed with clients, such as Social Security strategies, estate planning and the transition to retirement. He also serves the Investments & Wealth Institute as a member of the Certification Item/Test Form Review Task Force.
Walsh has an MBA in finance and CFP, CFA, CTFA, AIFA, CRPC and CPWA designations. For information about his firm’s services or to speak with Joseph Walsh Jr., call 815-748-2130 or visit www.walshandassociates.com.
