DeKALB – You might start seeing DeKalb police officers around town with unshaven faces.
The DeKalb Police Department will again participate in No Shave November, an cancer awareness campaign.
Officers who choose to participate will be putting down their razors and donating $20 to the No Shave November Foundation via the DeKalb Police Benevolent & Protective Association, according to a news release from the department.
The No-Shave November Foundation is a web-based, nonprofit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research and education. The 2019 Campaign will be supporting “Fight Colorectal Cancer,” St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. No less than 80% of donations will be donated equally to participating charities, the release said.
Residents who would like to donate or participate in the event alongside the officers can do so by visiting the department’s fundraising page at no-shave.org/org/dpd.
