DeKalb County Health Department offers flu shots

DeKALB – The DeKalb County Health Department is encouraging residents to follow the Centers for Disease Control’s “3 Actions to Fight the Flu” campaign, with the first step being to get a flu shot.

The health department offers flu vaccines for adults and children beginning at 6 months old. A parent or guardian must be with anyone younger than 18. The health department accepts most PPO insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare Part B with no cost to the client. Be sure to bring all insurance cards and a photo ID.

Step two of the campaign are to wash hands frequently and disinfect surfaces and step three is to take antiviral medication if your doctor prescribes it.

No appointment is necessary during health department hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
