SYCAMORE – Heartland Bank and Trust Co. in Sycamore presented its 2019 Heart of Our Community award to Tynisha Clegg at the September Chamber business after hours.
The award was established to recognize Sycamore and DeKalb residents who have stood out for volunteering their time and talent to help others.
The Heart of Our Community award was presented by Michelle Tecza and Tia Anderson, retail managers for Heartland Bank. Heartland recognizes its responsibility extends beyond providing financial services to the communities it serves.
Clegg led her organization, Family Service Agency, to support displaced fire victims in Sycamore and DeKalb. There were more than 200 people from three separate fires. After only a few days of Red Cross support in the county, Clegg took the lead.
Clegg, her family and staff, put in countless hours, including weekends and evenings, along with their own sweat and finances to come to the rescue of the community.
Clegg received $100 Visa gift card and a “Heart” award.
“What a great way to top off our business after hours evening!" Theresa Jennings, retail support manager for Heartland Bank, said in a news release. "Presenting our Heart of Our Community Award and recognizing this deserving person was absolutely my favorite part of the night. Tynisha is very deserving.
"Keeping community in banking is what Heartland Bank and Trust Co. is all about,” Jennings said in the release.
