Sycamore Education Foundation announces this year's Distinguished Alumni Awards

SYCAMORE – The Sycamore Education Foundation announced the recipients of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Awards.

These individuals will be honored at a reception Sept. 22 at the Sycamore High School. The ceremony to honor the inductees begins at noon with a tour of the high school. Reception following will feature light refreshments. The induction ceremony and unveiling of honorary plaques begins at 2:00 p.m.

This year’s inductees are former Sycamore High School coach and instructor Rich Kearney (class of 1965), manager of Global Real Estate Operations for IKEA Rob Olson (1988) and Chuck Criswell (1967) (posthumous), a distinguished local business owner and well-known community member.

The Sycamore Education Foundation is working in partnership with the Sycamore School District and the Sycamore Alumni Committee for the Distinguished Alumni Awards. The event is free to the public.

Meanwhile, the SEF's annual Take Root fundraiser will also be held on 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 22. This year’s event, “A Harvest Hoedown,” will be at Dayton Farms in Sycamore. Tickets are $40 and include food, beer and wine, live music, and a lineup of silent and live auction items.

Tickets are available online at sycamoresef.org or at Shawn’s Coffee Shop and Kar-Fre Flowers. All proceeds directly benefit students within Sycamore schools.
