DeKALB – Barb Food Mart, a food pantry for families with school-age children in the DeKalb School District, has partnered with the local Goodwill Industries store to collect donations.
SYCAMORE – Dr. Teresa Melton of Allergies, Aches & Pains Chiropractic & Acupuncture Center, Ltd., attended two seminars for pregnancy and pediatric care. The first seminar was Acupuncture in Pregnancy and Postpartum Care, with Debra Betts, international lecturer on obstetrical acupuncture and author of “The Essential Guide to Acupuncture in Pregnancy & Childbirth.” Strategies for prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum and pre-birth preparation were all discussed.

GENOA – NB&T announced that Gwendolyn J. Garza has been promoted to assistant vice-president market manager of the Genoa branch location.
GENOA – Heartland Bank and Trust Company recently donated more than $4,500 to area schools from touchdowns scored by participating high school football teams. The Score with Heartland Bank program paid $25 for each touchdown made at a varsity home football game during the regular and playoff season.
SYCAMORE – Shawn Sellers, a coach at Moose-(L) Up Redemption Club, recently attended a Circular Strength Training seminar taught by internationally-renowned fitness coach and U.S. military and law enforcement consultant Scott Sonnon. Circular Strength Training encompasses movement and flexibility techniques found in yoga, martial arts and dance studios, with a variety of progressive strengthening exercises using body weight, gravity, club bells and kettle bells.
DeKALB – Rob Larkins of Sycamore, a physical therapist at Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists in DeKalb, recently completed an 18-month doctorate program for physical therapists. Larkins graduated from the Evidence In Motion Institute for Health Professions (EIM); this program is designed to improve the clinical knowledge of physical therapists with coursework built upon the current best evidence for the management of musculoskeletal disorders.
SYCAMORE – Allstate agent Patrick Shafer of Sycamore received the Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award. The Allstate Foundation awarded $1,000 grants to the DeKalb Fire Department and Police Department.
