DeKALB – The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics has selected DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport as the 2013 General Aviation-Public/Category A Airport of the Year. Criteria is based on, but not limited to, cooperation with the DOA and the FAA, safety record and maintenance of the facility.
DeKALB – Brett Korth has joined the team at Business-Resource Insurance, a department of Resource Bank, as the newest insurance adviser. Korth is serving the insurance needs of DeKalb, Genoa, Hampshire and Sycamore communities.
KIRKLAND – Roy Smith and Joyce Gregg came from Rockford. Teresa Alagna and her husband, all the way from Winnebago. Others came from much closer. Saying they heard about it from friends, the motorcycle enthusiasts all came to Franklin Township Park in Kirkland on Saturday for the same reason: to participate in the Blessing of the Bikes.
SYCAMORE – Thomas Franks has been appointed the new assistant principal of Sycamore Middle School. Franks’ appointment was confirmed at the May 14 meeting of the Dist. 427 board of education.
DeKALB – Three nurses received top honors at the KishHealth System Employee Recognition Banquet May 13.
The local DeKalb County Forty & Eight, Voiture 207 offers two $1,000 scholarships each year to students in the nursing program at Kishwaukee College. Available funds for these scholarships are shrinking, and a fundraising program has been started to maintain them. To donate, mail checks made out to DeKalb County 40&8 Nurse Fund to 40&8, P.O.
