SYCAMORE – Sycamore Music Boosters awarded the 2013 Continuing College Music Scholarship to Gail Anderson and Calob Pluhm. This scholarship is designed to assist Sycamore High School graduates in continuing their music education in college. Pluhm, a first-year recipient, and Anderson, a second-year recipient, were each awarded this scholarship in recognition of their outstanding musicianship, music and academic achievements, and overall participation in music.
SYCAMORE – Sycamore School District 427 sent 93 music students to the 2013 Illinois Music Educators Association all-district orchestras, bands and choirs.
SYCAMORE – A Wally Thurow Scholarship Award has been established for graduating seniors at Sycamore High School.
It is said a man’s best friend is a dog. Sometimes, a dog’s best friend is man.
Three local students received scholarships from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. The college and its departments award more than $2 million in scholarships each year.
Jeff Flanigan of Sycamore was one of seven Lewis University aviation students with a devotion to the business aviation industry and high levels of achievement who were recently awarded $4,000 scholarships from the Chicago Area Business Aviation Association. Lewis University students received nine out of 12 scholarships offered by CABAA, the organization of aviation business professionals.
Kayla Gin of Sycamore was named to the dean’s list at Biola University. To achieve the dean’s list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.6 or better, be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better.
