Sycamore artist Lynden Bute will share his 50-year history as an artist at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Oak Crest Retirement Center in DeKalb.

The presentation is free and open to the public, and will be in the center’s Little Theater, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, after a business meeting of the DeKalb County Historical-Genealogical Society. Bute will have photos, models and other artwork on display.

Bute is known for his snow sculptures, as well as his painting and wood carvings. One of his most well-known pieces was the snow sculpture, “Mount Sycamore,” which he created in 1979. It featured relevant Sycamore figures, including former Mayor “Red” Johnson, and was on display on the DeKalb County Courthouse lawn in Sycamore.

The DeKalb County Historical-Genealogical Society sponsors seven programs a year to promote the history and genealogy of DeKalb County. Membership of $25 a year includes a subscription to the DCHGS local history magazine Cornsilk and special programs.
