SYCAMORE – The team at Culver’s in Sycamore is showing its stuff as it moves forward in a national competition to recognize the restaurant chain’s crews for their hard work and dedication.

The Culver’s of Sycamore, 1200 DeKalb Ave., is a bronze finalist in the Culver’s Crew Challenge, according to a news release. The competition pits 690 Culver’s across the nation in a friendly competition to see which location has the best quality, service, cleanliness, hospitality, community outreach, team member training and development, according to the release.

The Sycamore location is one of 350 restaurants across the county to advance to the bronze round.

“We’re thrilled to have advanced to the next level of the competition,” Amanda Corona, owner and operator of Culver’s of Sycamore, said in the release. “Our team members are committed to delivering the very best to our guests and this completely validates what we try to do every day.”

Each location is evaluated by a Culver’s national support team, as well as by feedback from those who patronize the businesses.

The Sycamore location will now set its sights on becoming a silver finalist, and only 50 can be chosen, according to the release.

If Culver’s of Sycamore wins the silver round, it could receive $50,000 in prize money. The four next highest-scoring restaurants would each receive $12,500, and the winning money would be split between the location’s team members and managers.

The top five restaurants chosen move on to the gold finalists round and compete for the national championship title in the Culver’s Crew Challenge. The winners will be announced at the chain’s annual convention in February in Phoenix.

Culver’s has more than 700 independently owned and operated restaurants in 25 states in the country.

The Sycamore store underwent interior renovations in 2014, but has been in operation since 2000. Renovations included replacing the marquee in front of the building with a digital sign, a dropped ceiling, new booths, tables and chairs, new carpeting, a digital sign and several TV screens. The bathrooms were also completely renovated.

Known for its butter burgers and frozen custard, Culver’s also partners with a variety of community organizations for fundraisers. Corona has previously estimated the restaurant sees an average of 650 guests a day.
