SYCAMORE – The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club recently completed awards of its annual Community Grant for Children, Youth and Families of DeKalb County.

The club raises money each through the "Taste of DeKalb" event to fund an annual $10,000 grant to a local nonprofit organization with a project that will directly benefit children, youth, and/or families in the county. This is the third consecutive year the club has awarded grants.

One of the recipients this year is the DeKalb County Family Service Agency. The program was awarded $1,000 to support two of its community programs, senior services and youth mentoring. The funds will be used to support programming at several Club 55 senior activity locations and to recruit more one-on-one mentors for the youth mentoring program. The agency's goal is reach as many DeKalb County youth who need an adult mentor as possible.

Erin Tamms, FSA community programs director, attended the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club meeting on June 25 to accept the grant check on behalf of the organization.
