The Sycamore Public Library and CMJ Technologies in Sycamore have partnered to bring library users a new mobile computer lab.
Ten new laptops will allow the library to begin offering tech programs to help patrons improve their digital literacy skills. Beginning this summer, the library’s Tech Thursdays will feature workshops for adults to learn computer and social media skills. The mobile lab also will be used to offer children and teens some coding and robotics programs.
“This partnership will give us the opportunity to respond to the demand for classes on Microsoft Office products, LinkedIn, Coding, and Getting Started with Computers, just to name a few,” Library Director Monica Dombrowski said in a news release. “It also supports our mission to encourage the development of 21st century skills as defined by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.”
