KVAL meeting to feature art products

SYCAMORE – The Kishwaukee Valley Art League’s June 6 meeting will focus on new arts and crafts products. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hy-Vee Club Room and the public is welcome to attend.

Guest speaker Robert Davis is a sales representative for SLS Arts, a wholesale distributor of 38,000-plus name brand fine arts and crafts products. He will discuss and demonstrate new art supplies in several categories.

Davis has an extensive background in the fine arts. He has a Bachelor of Music Education degree in instrumental music and a master's degree in painting from Morehead State University. He also has a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from Northern Illinois University. He has formally managed the Art Department at the Village Commons Bookstore and taught photography and printmaking at Kishwaukee College.

Among the products that Davis will demonstrate are Akua inks for printmaking as well as Marabu aqua inks, Eco-line water color and water color brush pens and Tombow brush pens. For painters, the products will include Golden Color Pouring mediums, and Liquitex Acrylic Gouache as well as Escoda handmade brushes, Peria Toray synthetic and Prado Tame synthetic brushes. In the paper product category, Davis will offer Stillman & Birn mixed media paper and pads and Strathmore black mixed-media pads.
