SYCAMORE – The Rev. Georges Jallouf was installed as the 24th rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sycamore on April 27. The Right Rev. Jeffrey Lee, Bishop of Chicago, presided over the service.
The Rev. Joseph Alsay from St. Augustine Canterbury in Edmond, Oklahoma, preached the sermon, and the Very Rev. Gloria Hopewell, dean of the Rockford Deanery, presented the canons of the Diocese.
Bishop Lee blessed the new altar, a cross in the narthex of the church, and the newly renovated rectory. Jallouf was surrounded by family and friends at a reception held immediately after the service.
Jallouf and his wife Maha moved to Sycamore from Oklahoma where Jallouf served as rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa, and then as hospice minister in Oklahoma City.
Jallouf presided over his first service at St. Peter’s on Oct. 7. Since then, he and his wife have become an integral part of St. Peter’s. Jallouf has a great love for children, and they have become part of the weekly service. He and his wife also visit shut-ins regularly and he presides over services at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center.
