The bridge on South First Street over Interstate 88 will be closed starting Monday.

The construction is expected to last for three months while the existing bridge deck is replaced with a reinforced concrete deck. The shoulder area on the new bridge will be wider with an increased clearance above I-88.

The work is funded by the Tollway's 15-year, $14 billion Move Illinois program.

A detour will be posted routing traffic to Annie Glidden Road, Lincoln Highway, Fourth Street and Harvestore Drive to access South First Street. Drivers coming from I-88 will also be able to access South First Street via the Peace Road Interchange to the east using the posted truck routes.
