DAR chapter hears from guest speakers

The Gen. John Stark Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution heard from two featured speakers at the meeting on Feb. 2. Jacob Shadinger, state president, Illinois State Society, Children of the American Revolution, spoke about his association with BraveHearts, an organization that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies with teams of staff, volunteers and therapy horses at multiple safe and caring facilities. In addition to children and adults, BraveHearts provides innovative services to meet the needs of our military veterans and their families. Bill Cummings retired from Northern Illinois University after 30 years in the Accountancy Department. He is active in the Lifelong Learning Institute at NIU and he spoke about World War I.
