DeKALB – The application window for 2019 Community Development Block Grant Public Services now is open and will close Dec. 10 at 5 p.m., according to a city news release.
Provided on an annual basis by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to the city, the assistance dollars go toward qualifying community development.
Organizations interested in submitting an application for CDBG funding should first submit a letter of intention to the DeKalb Community Development Department by 5 p.m. Dec. 10. Applications can be found on the city’s website, under the community development department tab. Click on the community services page.
CDBG funds for local programs are only for new social services or a documented increase in social services provided to target populations.
According to the news release, organizations that would like to apply for CDBG funds must have programs that service city of DeKalb residents whose income is less than 80 percent of the area median income. Organi zations must provide documentation of household incomes for all program participants.
Grant-seeking projects must be designed to increase public services which promote independent living and self-sufficiency for homeless individuals, families, the elderly and people with disabilities. All applying projects must meet at least one consolidated plan objective as well as one HUD national objective. A list of those objectives are included in the application materials found on the city’s website.
