DeKALB – DeKalb County residents have a chance to help feed the less fortunate by participating in the 18th annual Freezin’ for Food drive beginning Wednesday.

WLBK radio host TD Ryan will be broadcasting on 98.9 FM and AM-1360 in the cold Wednesday through Saturday from the parking lot of Hy-Vee, 2700 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.

During Freezin’ for Food’s inaugural year in 2001, a ton – 2,000 pounds – of food was collected; 18 years later, WLBK has set a goal of 50,000 pounds of food.

Residents are encouraged to stop by Ryan’s Hy-Vee holiday headquarters during the four-day drive and donate nonperishable items or give a monetary donation.

The collection will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all four days.
