DeKALB – Memberships to the Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Health and Wellness Center, 626 E. Bethany Road, will be offered to the public starting July 9.
A membership sales office will be at Windmill Plaza, 2731 Sycamore Road, between the Northwestern Medicine Hospice office and Kishwaukee Hospital. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
“We are very excited about the wellness center opening," Dawn Roznowski, director of Northwestern Medicine Community Health Services, said in a news release. "It will be a wonderful addition to our community."
The 111,000-square-foot facility will offer a number of amenities, including modern cardio and strength equipment, an indoor walking track, a gymnasium, full-service locker rooms with spas and saunas, a 25-yard lap pool, a warm water therapy pool and kid zone for children 6 months to 11 years old.
One of the things differentiating the Northwestern facility from other wellness centers in the area is the medical management aspect, which allows doctors to refer patients to the facility for different programs and then receive feedback on how they are doing.
Construction has been underway for more than a year and has managed to stay on schedule despite a prolonged winter season and the negotiation of an intergovernmental agreement with the city of DeKalb that would allow Northwestern Medicine to use the city’s stormwater system and install a traffic signal and opposing left-turn lanes on Bethany Road.
The center is scheduled to open in the fall, but a date has not been set for the grand opening.
