The Continuing Education Department at Kishwaukee College will offer a short-term training program in Sterile Processing Technology this fall.
Sterile processing rechnicians are health care professionals who provide support to all patient care services in a health care facility. They are responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing and distributing medical devices and supplies needed in patient care, especially during surgery.
The program will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 4 through Dec. 18, in room B1274. The program consists of 85 hours of instruction (75 hours of classroom instruction and a 10-hour non-paid externship in a sterile processing facility). The cost of this program is $1,200 and students must be age 18 to register. Registration is required.
An informational session will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7, on campus in room B1276 for anyone who is interested in the program or would like to ask questions before registering.
