DeKALB – HarmonEssence Chorus will present a benefit show for the OMG Quartet at 3 p.m. Saturday at Community of Christ Church, 1200 S. Malta Road in DeKalb.
This fundraiser event will support the chorus’s director, Jeff Lathom, and his quartet OMG (Old Married Guys), and their July trip to the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest in Orlando. A free-will donation will be taken to help fund the trip. A raffle and 50/50 drawing will be held as well.
The concert be an entertaining and family-friendly event. Songs from today and yesterday will be sung by both groups.
“OMG Quartet is very excited and honored to share the stage with HarmonEssence Chorus,” Lathom said in a news release. “We are grateful that they are willing to throw us a fundraiser to help us achieve our goal to getting to this year’s international contest in Orlando Florida.”
The HarmonEssence Chorus is an all-female DeKalb-based four-part harmony a cappella chorus that was chartered in 1985 by two members that are still in the chorus today. The chorus won the International Harmony Classic in 2000 and 2002 and won Regional first place overall in 2003. The 17-member chorus of women of all ages is a part of the Sweet Adelines International organization.
