Give DeKalb County offers 24-hour opportunity to support nonprofits

Donors from DeKalb County and all over the world can support local nonprofit organizations during Give DeKalb County on May 3.

The 24-hour charitable giving day is being coordinated for the fifth consecutive year by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, which is a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation.

“We’re excited to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Give DeKalb County on May 3,” DCNP Director Ben Bingle said in a news release. “Through the four previous giving days, over $1.2 million has been raised to support nonprofits located in or serving DeKalb County. This year we have over 80 nonprofits participating, and the collaborative impact of these organizations is truly something to celebrate.”

Donations can be made online by credit or debit card from midnight to midnight on May 3 at www.GiveDeKalbCounty.org. Donors may also choose to give by cash or check between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. May 3 at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore. The minimum donation amount is $5.

A bonus pool of more than $53,600 has been raised and each donation made during Give DeKalb County is boosted by a percentage of these additional funds. The bonus pool is made possible by the support of community partners including Chulick Family Fund, Curran Family Endowment Fund, Dan and Kathy Schewe, DeKalb County Community Foundation, First Midwest Bank, Horizons Unlimited Castle Advised Fund, Ideal Industries, Keicher Insurance Agency, Lynne Waldeland, Morningstar Media Group, Northwestern Medicine, Old Second National Bank, Paul Callighan, The Suter Company, and Soft Water City.
