Midwest Museum of Natural History director accepts job in Washington, D.C.

SYCAMORE – The Midwest Museum of Natural History is looking for a new leader, as its executive director, Malwina Bardoni, has accepted a job in the nation’s capital, according to a news release from the local museum.

Bardoni, who’s led the museum since March 2017, has accepted a position at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and her last day at the Sycamore museum will be Wednesday. Lauren Orton, who has been the museum’s curator of education, will be the interim director, according to the release.

“I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to serving our community as the board embarks on a director search,” Orton said in the release, which states a permanent replacement is expected to be in place by June 30.

The museum is looking for volunteers, particularly people willing to assist at the front desk and welcoming visitors and education programs. For information, visit mmnh.org, or call 815-895-9777.
