DeKALB – Heartland Bank and Trust Company in DeKalb presented its 2018 Heart of Our Community award to Colleen Bredeson at the March Chamber Business After Hours. This award was established to recognize DeKalb residents who have stood out for volunteering their time and talent to help others.
The Heart of Our Community award was presented by Tia Anderson, retail manager for Heartland Bank. Heartland Bank recognizes its responsibility extends beyond providing financial services to the communities they serve.
“We strongly believe the ongoing success of a community involves good corporate citizenship and making a difference in the lives of others,” Anderson said in a news release. This award was designed to recognize local residents who have done something extraordinary, touched someone by lending a helping hand or going above and beyond.
Bredeson has volunteered with many organizations over the years and always lends her support to local nonprofit events. She is active in church leading vacation bible school and children’s ministries. Serving on the PTO and working with the Kiwanis she lends her diverse service. An area that is close to her heart is the annual Ride for Multiple Sclerosis where she raises funds as well as rides in honor of her husband.
Bredeson received $100 Visa gift card and a “Heart” award.
“What a great way to top off our Business After Hours evening! Presenting our Heart of Our Community award and recognizing this deserving person was absolutely my favorite part of the night; Colleen is very deserving. Keeping community in banking is what Heartland Bank and Trust Company is all about,” Theresa Jennings, retail support manager for Heartland Bank, said in the release.
