DeKALB – Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for the Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club’s second annual talent show April 7 at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.
DeKalb City Manager and committee co-chairwoman Anne Marie Gaura said more than 500 people attended the event last year, and one of the goals is to get an even better turnout.
“The show was the brainchild of Ralph Sherman, and our goal is to take what Ralph started last year and build on it,” Gaura said.
Several performers from last year’s show again will take the stage, including 13-year-old singer Olivia Faye Yarbrough and Boy Scout troop leader and guitarist Tom Spielman.
Enharmonic Fusion, an a cappella group of DeKalb High School students which placed second in the 2017 International Championship of High School A Cappella National Finals, and the DHS Forensics Team, who won the IHSA regional and sectional championships this year, also will perform.
“Every time I hear them, they still grab you, and it has an impact,” Kishwaukee Kiwanis member Toney Xidis said about the forensics team.
Other acts include an acrobatic performance from the City On the Hill Tumblers, a trick yo-yo act, and a performance from Luxury Pork, a country and rock band whose lead singer is from Sycamore.
Tickets will be available at the Egyptian Theatre, with proceeds going toward Opportunity House in Sycamore.
