The Kishwaukee College Adult Education department is offering an Academic Reading and Writing class designed for prepare English as a Second Language students to transition to college. This class is free.
The class meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room C1209, following the high intermediate/advanced level ESL class. Students may enroll at the class site Feb. 8.
The Academic Reading and Writing class is open to any ESL student who is age 16 or older and has a score of 211 or more on a CASAS test or any score on a TABE test.
The Academic Reading and Writing class will cover reading and writing improvement; enrolling in college; financial resources; preparation for college-level writing classes; and academic planning. At the end of the semester, students will take the college placement test. In fall 2018, a free ESL Support Class will be provided for students who place in and enroll in a college-level writing course based on the Accuplacer Placement Scores.
