KC Adult Ed offering free Bridge to Healthcare Careers

The Kishwaukee College Adult Education department is offering a free Bridge to Healthcare Careers class designed for prepare students to take the GED/High School Equivalency exam and then transition into a healthcare career program at the college.

The class began the week of Jan. 16, however students may still enroll at the class site at Kishwaukee College Feb. 6 through 8 and 12.

The Bridge to Healthcare prep class meets from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The Monday and Wednesday classes will cover language arts and social sciences and the Tuesday and Thursday classes will cover math and science. The Bridge to Healthcare prep class is designed for adults who left high school prior to graduation and can demonstrate a reading and math level of sixth grade or higher on the Test of Adult Basic Education.

The program will cover preparation in the GED/HSE test areas of language arts, social sciences, math and science. The class will include instruction related to health care careers to improve basic and/or secondary reading, writing, math and critical thinking skills. Students also will explore a variety of healthcare careers and learn about certificate and degree programs in healthcare fields offered at Kishwaukee College.
