Congressman Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, recently hosted his annual reception for high school students he nominated to attend the United States military academies.

Kinzinger provided 16 nominations to the academies this year including Gabriella Janes of Genoa who received a nomination to West Point, Keegan Donnelly of DeKalb who received a nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy and Keith Mokry of Somonauk who received a nomination to the U.S. Naval Academy.

Students wishing to attend one of the nation’s service academies must receive a nomination from either their congressman, senator or the vice president.

The nominees were selected based on their applications, test scores, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and the specific requirements of each academy. Each service academy will determine who will receive an appointment of admission.
