Children’s Community Theatre of DeKalb County has set auditions for “Grease,” the school edition, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak St. in DeKalb.
Auditioning is free and open to boys and girls ages 7 to 18. Participants should come prepared to sing a short (16-32 measures) song a cappella and do a cold reading from the script.
Director Sue Graham says the production will be fun for boys and girls.
“I am excited to be directing ‘Grease’ with its ‘50s fun and outstanding songs and music,” she said in the release. “We will be performing the school version, which is a family-friendly show, and that will give children ages 7 to 18 the opportunity to be cast as Rydell High students, teachers and other adult roles, such as Teen Angel and Johnny Casino.”
Performances of “Grease” will be April 5 to 8 at the Sandwich Opera House in Sandwich. This year, CCT is maximizing the experience for children throughout DeKalb County. Rehearsals will be at the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb. Only tech week rehearsals and performances will be at the opera house.
