DeKALB – Just Make It Happen Inc. invites area service clubs, performance arts advocates and citizens to participate in the annual 'Tis the Season live music project featuring the Kishwaukee Brass Quintet.
The campaign offers community programs at preschools, senior centers, Hope Haven homeless shelter, the DeKalb County Jail, cancer centers and businesses.
By becoming a financial partner, along with the Wurlitzer Foundation Music Education grant, donors help others enjoy the Christmas season with live professional music.
The JMIH "Artist in Residence" educational program is currently in six preschools in DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa and Shabbona. JMIH President John Smith said he'd like the program to expand to nine preschools.
“Because many preschools have zero funds to bring professional musicians to their school, the Wurlitzer grant assists JMIH in reaching underserved children in as many schools as possible,” Smith said in a news release.
In 2016, Tis the Season’s calendar included expanded programming at Northern Illinois University and private parties.
JMIH invites financial partners to underwrite the various concerts. The donation window runs through Nov. 24.
The calendar fills quickly for the quintet. Contact Smith immediately at 815-758-1093 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
