First National Bank has named the Illinois finalists for the 2017 Community First Awards. The Community First Awards recognize and celebrate nonprofit organizations who contribute to the success of communities across the bank’s service area.
Nominations for the 2017 Community First Awards were open to the public in July for a three-week period. The nominations were then evaluated based on the nonprofit’s impact on community needs and positive presence in the community. The following nonprofit organizations were selected as the finalists for Illinois:
• Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C)
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County
• Court Appointed Special Advocates of Kendall County
• DeKalb County Youth Services Bureau
• Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center
• Mutual Ground
• Open Door Rehabilitation Center
• Transitional Living Services / TLS Veterans
• Voluntary Action Center of DeKalb County
The public is invited to vote between until Sept. 8 via http://woobox.com/8uk6oc for the organization they believe has made a significant contribution to the growth and strength of their community. Individuals are allowed one vote per day. The nonprofit organization with the most votes will receive a $10,000 cash donation and one runner-up will receive a $2,500 cash donation. There will be one winner and runner-up selected from each of the following areas: Illinois, Nebraska/South Dakota, Kansas and Colorado. First National Bank will announce the winners during the week of Sept. 18.
For First National Bank’s 2016 Community First Awards, Tails Humane Society was selected as the winner for the Illinois region and received a $10,000 cash donation. Open Door Rehabilitation Center was selected as the runner-up for the Illinois region and received a $2,500 donation.
