Ted Strong Jr. story to be told at historical society meeting

Sherman Jenkins, author of "Ted Strong Jr., the Untold Story of an Original Harlem Globetrotter and Negro League All-Star," will speak at the Sept. 13 meeting of the DeKalb County Historical Genealogical Society.

Jenkins will present Strong's fascinating life, career, and the times surrounding his rise to prominence in baseball and basketball. While selected to play in seven Negro League All Star Games, he is best known for contributing to the success of the Black America's superb baseball team – the Kansas City Monarchs. In 1930, he joined the Harlem Globetrotters and the rest is history.  

The public is invited to this free presentation which will be held at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre at Oak Crest – DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive in DeKalb.
