Kish College offers Chinese language class in September

The Continuing Education department at Kishwaukee College is offering a class on Chinese Language and Culture. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 5 through Oct. 26. The cost of this class is $125.

In this noncredit class, students will learn pronunciation of words and names, basic conversation, how to read the phonetic systems, and how to read and write elementary Chinese characters. The focus will be on Mandarin Chinese.

Students also will learn about Chinese culture through activities, food and film.

The class assumes no prior knowledge of the Chinese language and is designed to be moderately challenging in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
