The DeKalb Public Library will host “Homeschool-Palooza” from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14.
The event will feature a full roster of events including seven workshops, several activities run by local businesses, free mini guitar lessons, an open Q&A and demonstration on 3D design in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio, a used curricula sale/swap, and more.

Vendors will include: DeKalb County Home Educators, Usborne Books, Esther’s Place, Midwest Museum of Natural History, Russell Woods Forest Preserve and Nature Center, Kishwaukee College, Sycamore/Rochelle Performing Arts Academy, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, Classic Books, Hero Martial Arts, NIU Community School of Arts, Tails Humane Society, Kishwaukee Family YMCA, Blue Line Driving School, School of Art in Geneva and Epic Air.
There will be guest speakers and activities scheduled.
A few vendors will perform or give seminars on their areas of expertise. Additional speakers include: Northern Illinois Alternative Homeschoolers, Classical Conversations, Ellen Stukel (high school transcript workshop), ILLuminate Co-op, Elwood House Museum, Now Yoga, DeKalb Babywearing Support Group, Music Connections, and Paul Holmes (guitar lessons).
The event is free and is open to all. No registration is required. A schedule of the day’s events will be available at the welcome station. Be sure to check out the library’s Parent/Teacher Collection located in the Adult Services department.
