Weis Builders is giving back with a gift of $5,000 to help fund the Camp Power program.
Weis Builders, established in 1939 as a basement cabinet shop, is now on its third generation as a family-owned general contractor and these values are reflected in their philanthropic work. They have served the Chicagoland area for nearly 20 years. Currently, they are involved in the demolition and rehabilitation of 534 occupied apartments at University Village in DeKalb. The project is expected to run through the spring of 2018. In addition, they will add two new playgrounds and a picnic shelter for the kids to enjoy.
Camp Power is a free, collaborative summer program offered on-site to children and families living in the University Village development. The program addresses summer learning, healthy living and relationship building with local police. Many positive outcomes have resulted since the program began in 2014.
Camp Power is guided by a steering committee comprised of collaborative partners and community members and operated by the Kishwaukee Family YMCA. The program is funded completely through community donations. To support the Camp Power program, contact Debbie Madeley, YMCA development director, at 815-756-9577 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
