The DeKalb Public Library and the DeKalb Kiwanis Club will kick off the “A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body” initiative with a “make your own pizza” luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Yusunas Meeting Room in the lower level of the library.
Families are invited to make their own pizza, box it up, and take it home for dinner. Each family will be given healthy ingredients from Hy-Vee. A wide array of toppings will be available to choose from. A healthy pizza lunch also will be provided by Hy-Vee.
Before lunch, representatives from the DeKalb Public Library and the DeKalb Kiwanis will outline “A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body.” an initiative to encourage physical, mental and economic health, as well as sustainable living, through a series of programs, lectures, tours and activities for people of all ages.
Registration is required, as space and resources are limited. Register as a family with the understanding that you will be making a 14-inch pizza to take home.
DeKalb County Community Gardens will provide all of the vegetables for the event. The group will give a brief overview of their summer programs and initiatives before lunch is served.
