DeKALB – To promote programs that increase public access to fresh food, the DeKalb County Community Gardens will hold its third annual "Make Our Garden Grow" benefit concert Feb. 19 at Northern Illinois University's Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.

The show, which was arranged by NIU Director of Choral Music Eric Johnson, will feature performances from members of the DeKalb Festival Chorus, students from DeKalb High School, NIU chamber and concert choirs and the University Chorus.

"This is always a very enjoyable event," Community Gardens Executive Director Dan Kenney said in a news release. "It is amazing to hear all of the wonderful choral talent we have right here in our county."

The concert will start at 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Donations will be collected at the door, which will go toward projects such as the Walnut Grove Vocational Farm, which allows individuals with special needs to engage with the community.
