MALTA – Remington's Gastropub will be hosting an "All for Aleppo" comedy show to benefit those suffering from the civil war in Syria.
Rahmein Mostafavi, a comedian from Washington, D.C., will perform at 8 p.m. Jan. 18 at the gastropub, 102 S. Third St. in Malta.
Tickets can be purchased at the gastropub for $15 in advance or $20 the day of the show.
All net profits from ticket sales will go to Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian organization that provides medical aid to people in war-torn countries.
Aleppo is a major city in Syria where much of the conflict has taken place. Millions of Syrians have been displaced from their homes as a result.
Gastropub owner Kristen Catencamp said she is hosting the show because she wanted to find a way to make a difference.
"With the civil war in Syria, there's so little we can do except bring in refugees, and I can't do that," she said.
Catencamp said the show's content would not be suitable for anyone younger than 18, although the material is "not raunchy."
She said Mostafavi performs improv comedy and often pokes fun at politics.
